Kamakura Itinerary
On this tour, you will discover the charming city of Kamakura, surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
Great Buddha of Kamakura (Kotokuin)
Our first stop will be Kotokuin Temple, home to the iconic statue of the Great Buddha of Kamakura. This impressive rusty bronze statue, 13.35 metres high, has stood in the open air since the 15th century after its original hall collapsed due to a tsunami.
With the mountains as a backdrop, this architectural and spiritual marvel is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, attracting visitors from all over the world. Here you can learn about its history, admire the intricate details of its design and experience a moment of peace in serene surroundings.
Hase Temple (Flower Temple)
Next, we will visit the Hase Temple, famous for its beautiful gardens and historical significance. From this mountain garden, you will enjoy a spectacular view of Yuigahama Beach and the Pacific Ocean, a unique combination of nature and spirituality.
During May and June, the temple is filled with vibrant hydrangeas, making it a popular destination for flower lovers. It also features tranquil ponds, an illuminated cave with small statues of Benten (goddess of fortune) and hundreds of statues of Jizo, guardians of children and the deceased, each with its own poignant symbolism.
Afterwards, we will head to Komachi-dori Street, one of Kamakura's most famous shopping streets. This bustling pedestrian corridor is lined with shops selling traditional handicrafts, unique souvenirs and a variety of gastronomic delights. From freshly made dorayakis to freshly grilled senbei (rice crackers), here you will have the opportunity to sample authentic flavours of the region.
Komachi-dori is the perfect place to take a break, enjoy lunch in one of its cosy cafes or restaurants and find special souvenirs of Kamakura. Whatever you are looking for, this walk offers an authentic and charming experience.
